In an important news update, the Mumbai Indians (MI) will miss the services of their premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the entire Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season due to a back injury. The Mumbai Indians will be kickstarting their IPL 2023 campaign against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 2 April, 2023. It was a really disappointing IPL 2022 season for the five-time IPL champions as MI finished with the wooden spoon and managed to win just 4 matches.
Right-arm pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has missed a lot of cricket during the last few months and the same back injury has forced him to be ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2023 season. In his IPL career so far, Bumrah has picked up a total of 145 wickets from 120 matches at an impressive economy of less than 8 and thus, his absence will be a huge loss for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians have signed Kerala fast bowler Sandeep Warrier as the replacement player at a price of INR 50 Lakh. The right-arm pacer has previous played in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. While playing as many as 68 T20 matches, Warrier has picked up 62 wickets at an economy rate of 7.20.
