India’s star cricketer Rishabh Pant has met with an unfortunate accident and is currently receiving treatment. This means the wicket-keeper batter will be away from the cricket field for some time. However, as the extent of his injuries is not clearly known yet, no one knows how long it will take for him to resume playing cricket.

Now, former BCCI President and current Director of Cricket of Delhi Capitals Sourav Ganguly has given an official update about Pant’s availability for the upcoming IPL season.

Ganguly, the current director of cricket at Delhi Capitals has confirmed that Pant will not be available for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While speaking with a media outlet, Ganguly said that he is in connection with Delhi Capitals and it will be a great IPL for the team. He feels that the team will do well but at the same time Ganguly agreed that Rishabh Pant’s injury will affect the Delhi Capitals.

Rishabh Pant to be out for 6 months?

According to some reports, the wicket-keeper batter could be out of action for a period of minimum six months. This means he will miss the upcoming and important Test series against Australia and also the IPL 2023.

Pant met with an unfortunate accident on NH-58 near Manglaur at 5:30 am on 30th December 2022 while he was driving from Delhi to Roorkee.

Delhi Capitals to find new skipper in 2023 IPL

With Pant officially out of action, Delhi Capitals will now have to search for a new skipper for their team.

Their current squad includes David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Yash Dhull, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, Lungi Ngidi, Mustafizur Rahman, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Khaleel Ahmed,Ripal Patel, Aman Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Rilee Rossouw, Praveen Dubey, Vicky Ostwal, Ishant Sharma, Phil Salt, Mukesh Kumar and Manish Pandey.

From this squad, David Warner has the prior experience of leading an IPL franchise successfuly. So, he could be in contention for the captain’s post.
