Ruturaj Gaikwad Hundred in RR vs CSK: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second game of the entertaining double-header of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. The game is being played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and the MS Dhoni-led CSK team has dominated the proceedings in the first half courtesy a remarkable effort from Ruturaj Gaikwad.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis got the CSK team off to a fabulous start. However, Gaikwad looked in a staggering touch right from the start. Chennai Super Kings’ opener Ruturaj Gaikwad became the first batsman in this IPL 2021 Phase 2 to hit a fabulous hundred. He reached the landmark with a monstrous 108 metre six off just the last ball of the first innings.

The Chennai Super Kings opening combo of du Plessis and Gaikwad added a strong foundation with a fine partnership of 47 runs. Both Faf and Moeen Ali got some positive starts but they failed to convert them getting dismissed for 25 and 21 respectively. But Ruturaj Gaikwad looked in a stunning form especially while increasing the scoring rate after getting to his half-century. The right hander completed his half-century in 43 balls but it took him just 17 balls to complete a scintillating century. Gaikwad played a brilliant innings of 101 runs off 60 balls that included 9 fours and 5 sixes.

However, towards the end, Ravindra Jadeja once again provided his team with the best finishing touch smashing an amazing unbeaten cameo of 32 runs off only 15 balls to help the Chennai Super Kings finish with 189 for 4 on the scoreboard in their quota of 20 overs. For the Rajasthan Royals, Rahul Tewatia did pick up three wickets but all the bowlers leaked quite a few runs in their respective spells. A loss in this match will end the IPL 2021 playoffs hopes for the Rajasthan Royals.
