SA vs IND: In a massive news development, South Africa’s premier speedster Kagiso Rabada will not take part in the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. The first ODI between the Proteas and India will be played at the Boland Park in Paarl and the same venue will also host the second game while the final ODI match will take place in Cape Town. Both these teams are coming into this limited-overs series after playing a hard-fought three-match Test series where the hosts South Africa finished with an amazing 2-1 victory.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced that pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has been released from the Proteas ODI squad in order to manage his workload and they want him to be completely fit for the away Test series in New Zealand starting next month. The hosts have once again not named any replacement but have asked left-arm spinner George Linde to stay with the ODI squad for the India series. South Africa will now be playing the three-match ODI series against India without two of their potent pacers in Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje who is also missing due to injury.
“Proteas seam bowler, Kagiso Rabada, has been released from the team for the Betway One-Day International (ODI) series against India due to high workloads over a sustained period of time and the need for him to recover prior the outbound Test series against New Zealand next month,” CSA said in a release.
“No replacement will be brought in for him as there is an extended squad in place in the Bio-Secure Environment (BSE), but George Linde has been retained from the Test team as an extra spin-bowling option for the series,” CSA added.

Temba Bavuma (C), Keshav Maharaj (VC), Quinton de Kock, Zubayr Hamza, Marco Jansen, Janneman Malan, Sisanda Magala, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne, George Linde.
In the absence of Kagiso Rabada that is a massive blow, all-rounder Marco Jansen is very much likely to make his ODI debut for South Africa in the 1st ODI against India. During the recently concluded Test series, Jansen showed great temperament and came up with a stunning performance in his debut Test series against India where he finished as the second highest wicket-taker with as many as 19 scalps from 3 matches.
