With the Corona monster eating up all forms of sport around the planet, athletes have been forced to self-isolate themselves. While quarantine may prove to be a monotonous phase where time is hard to pass, some cricketers have used this period to fine-tune other talents that they possess outside the cricket field. It was KL Rahul on Friday, showing us what kept him busy at home, and it is Shreyas Iyer today. The middle-order batsman from Mumbai was seen donning the magician’s hat, pulling-off a hard-to-believe card trick.
In a recent tweet tweeted out by the BCCI, Iyer is shown executing a near perfect magic trick. The right-hander performed his version of the classic ‘pick a card, any card’ routine. “Trust our in-house magician @ShreyasIyer15 to keep us entertained when we are all indoors. Thanks for bringing smiles champ!” the BCCI captioned the video.
This, though, is not the first time that enthusiasts have been treated to the ‘illusionist’ side of the Mumbaiker. Iyer, who captains the franchise from Delhi in the Indian Premier League, was seen carrying-out a similar trick on the Delhi Capitals’ YouTube page last year. Last year in November, Iyer featured on fellow teammate Yuzvendra Chahal’s talk show, ‘Chahal Tv’, alongside pacer Deepak Chahar. Once again displaying exemplary sleight-of-hand, he wowed everybody present with his impeccable skills.
Shreyas has made the number four spot in the national side his own, showing exactly why he is considered one of the most exciting young batsmen in the country. Having both the power game and the deft touch in his armory, he might just be the answer to India’s middle order worries. Iyer will be seen captaining the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, if and when it takes place.
