SL vs IND: Sri Lankan Players to miss out series versus India and rest of the year

SL vs IND: The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has recently suspended Vice-captain Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickewella and Danushka Gunathilaka for breaching the COVID-19 norms and the bio-bubble on Monday. The three players were integral members of the three-match ODI series in England, but have now been  told to fly home after they were caught smoking outside their hotel.

“They will be flown back to Sri Lanka, with immediate effect”, as per a recent statement by Sri Lanka Cricket. The Board also stated that the players will remain suspended until further inquiry is completed.

There are also reports coming in, that Mendis, Dickwella and Gunathilaka could miss the home series against India, and are also likely to be on the sidelines for the remainder of the year, as per a Sri Lanka Cricket official.

As of now Sri Lanka are contesting in a three-match ODI series with England, and were on the receiving end of a five-wicket defeat in the first game.

Sri Lanka’s next assignment will be to host India a three-match T20I series, followed up by a three-match ODI series.
