The visitors lead the series 1-0 thanks to a dominating all-round display in the first game.
Colombo Weather Update
The weather is expected to be partly cloudy throughout the day. The temperature will hover around 26-28 degrees Celsius. The probability of rain between is just 20 %, meaning we can expect a full game today. Winds will be very light, and it is another warm day. The humidity will be a soaring 84 %.
The rain had played spoilsport in the final ODI match. There was a forecast of heavy rain for the first T20 game, but the match was completed without interruption.
SL vs IND 2nd T20I: Why The Game Was Postponed
Rapid antigen tests were conducted on Tuesday match-day morning, and Krunal Pandya tested positive for coronavirus. It was discovered that as many as eight other members came in close contact with him. The teams were put in isolation, and the entire contingent underwent RT-PCR tests on 27 July to ascertain any further outbreak.
Fortunately, the other test results returned negative, and the match will go on today. However, it must have been a situation of panic and chaos for everyone involved. Ruturaj Gaikwad or Devdutt Padikkal could come in as a replacement for Krunal. Nitish Rana has a shout too as he can roll his arm if required.
The ongoing series is the last one both sides play before the T20 World Cup. Both teams have tested their bench strength but for different reasons. Indian senior squad is in England for the test series while many heavyweights are out for Sri Lanka through injury. The host side would be looking to level the series and set up a grand final.
