India has made a stunning comeback in the Third Test against England. This has no doubt made English players more aggressive as Indian players have been breaking records and delivering stellar performances. English fast bowler Stuart Broad breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, article 2.1.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which talks about the use of certain language, gestures or actions, which could provoke an aggressive response from a batsman upon his or her dismissal in an international match.
Broad has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for this breach. Additionally, one demerit point has been was also added to the player’s disciplinary record. It was his first such offence since the introduction of the Revised Code, in September 2016.

The said breach occurred in the 92nd over of India’s first innings on Sunday. After dismissing Rishabh Pant, Broad walked towards Pant and spoke in a manner which could potentially cause Pant to give an aggressive response. Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees proposed the sanction, which Broad accepted, along with the charges levelled against him. Thus, there was no need for a formal hearing.
The said charges were actually levelled by umpires Marais Erasmus and Chris Gaffaney, who were on the field and third umpire Aleem Dar. Broad was lucky that this was a Level 1 breach, or else the repercussions could have been much more serious. The maximum penalty can be up to 50 per cent of a player’s match fee.
Currently, India is just one wicket away from victory and have a mammoth score on the board. The hosts will start with 311 for 9 with Adil Rashid and James Anderson as the unbeaten batsmen. If India wins this match they will have the score 2-1.
