Sunil Gavaskar picks his All-Time IPL XI; MS Dhoni named captain

The Indian Premier League is just 2 days away and the cricket fans are waiting for the tournament to begin. The defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9. Almost all the players will be available for both teams, just one exception is that Quinton De Kock will undergo quarantine for 7 days as he has arrived in India on April 5. In place of him, Chris Lynn is said to be opening for the MI team.

Sunil Gavaskar picks Dhoni as captain in IPL All-time XI

The former cricketer who often is seen in commentary panel and pre-match as well as post-match shows has picked his all-time XI and has chosen MS Dhoni as the captain of the team.

The other players who were included are Rohit Sharma who has led the MI team to 5 IPL title victories, Chris Gayle who has hit the maximum sixes in the IPL, SRH captain David Warner, RCB captain Virat Kohli, Mr. 360 Ab de Villiers, CSK’s leading run-scorer Suresh Raina, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, KKR’s spinner Sunil Narine, SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and IPL’s best death bowler from many years, Jasprit Bumrah. The yorker king Lasith Malinga who has helped the MI team to many title victories as the 12th man.

Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni [C & WK], Ravindra Jadeja, Sunil Narine, Bhuveshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah.

“I am sorry if I missed out on any players. I have never been a selector in my life and I now understand how hard it is to pick a team”, Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

MS Dhoni IPL Captaincy Stats

The former Indian captain and present CSK captain MS Dhoni has captained the most matches in the IPL history. In 188 matches, he has won 110 matches with a winning percentage of 58.82%.

Under his leadership, the team has reached the finals in 8 out of the 10 play-offs appearances and emerging victorious 3 times in 2010, 2011, and 2018.
