The mystery spinner Sunil Narine has been one of the best performers of the KKR team since they bought him in 2012. He has been a vital bowler who has proved his talent in the powerplay overs, middle-overs, or death overs. Due to his terrific performances, the franchise has won the titles in 2012 and 2014. He started to open the batting in 2017 and made a successful pair along with Chris Lynn. His ball-striking abilities continued until the 2019 season, but slowly he failed to perform in both departments and made way for Indian youngster Varun Chakravarthy.
The Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan who is out of form in the IPL 2021 can make way for Sunil Narine. The West Indian spinner is said to be recovered from niggle and can play in the match against Chennai Super Kings. The KKR head coach Brendon McCulum spoke to the media about the team combination for the Mumbai fixture and he gave a signal about Narine’s return and fresh legs for the next matches.
“Sunil Narine stood on the rope before our first game which means he has had an injury where he was not 100 percent fit. He certainly comes into our calculations, he was touch and go for this game against RCB but we opted for Shakib who has been good for us and he gives us an extra bit of batting. After three games, the guys have played well, we have not got the results, we probably would need some fresh legs for slightly different wickets in Mumbai.”
The CSK team has been performing quite well in the tournament. Their main strength lies in the batting depth. The all-rounders like Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dwayne Bravo have been excellent for the team. They can be remain unchanged for the match.
CSK: F Plessis, M Ali, S Curran, D Bravo
KKR: E Morgan, A Russell, S Narine, P Cummins
