He has been a hot commodity in the T20 circuit for a long time now. There has always been a cold war between him and the West Indies cricket board. The fact that Andre Russell has almost always picked franchise cricket over West Indies tells you the story. It was expected that Andre Russell will find a place in the world cup in Australia but West Indies have made a bold move to drop him from the squad.

We had a meeting with Andre Russell earlier in this year. We are still not convinced yet, he is not performing as well as we would like to see him in the competition. I think in the situation with Andre Russell. We’ve just decided to just move on, and look for someone who is in form and doing well in the T20 format.
