T20 World Cup to be staged in UAE, not India: PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani

T20 World Cup Venue: India failed miserably to successfully stage the 2021 edition of IPL in India as several bio-bubbles were breached which led to the suspension of the league and as a result, BCCI are forced to shift the remainder of the IPL to UAE where the 13th edition of IPL took place successfully.

India were supposed to host the WT20 in October this year but the inability of the Indian board to successfully conduct the IPL in India and the fact that the situation in India might not inspire confidence to other cricket boards will force ICC to move the WT20 out of India.

T20 World Cup Venue: WT20 to be held in UAE?

In all likelihood, WT20 will be moved out of India and UAE is set to stage the marquee event in October this year. UAE has already shown that they are capable of pulling off such an event under these trying circumstances which was evident when they conducted an entire season of IPL last year.

The PCB chairman Ehsan Mani also confirmed the same.

The ICC T20 World Cup, which was supposed to be held in India, is now going to the UAE. India is forced to hold the remaining IPL 2021 matches in UAE also. As such Pakistan had no other choice but to shift the venue of the remaining PSL matches in Abu Dhabi. We had two options, either to cancel the remaining matches or look for a possible venue during the period when we have no other international commitments. This is the best time for us and we have decided to hold it in Abu Dhabi.”
