After the COVID-19 scare, the second T20I between Sri Lanka and India took place at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo on the rescheduled date. The coronavirus outbreak in the India continent forced Team India to hand debut caps to Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Chetan Sakariya. The visitors stepped into the field with six bowlers and five batsmen due to unavailability of another batsmen.

The T20I series between Sri Lanka and India stand at 0-1 with visitors in lead after they won the first match by 38 runs.

The southpaw had a decent outing and scored 29 runs that included one six and a four on a pitch that seemed difficult to bat on. He further said that making his debut for India is a special feeling for him.

“It was a little bit sticky and we had to make sure that we had to bat through as we had a batter short. We wanted to put a competitive total on the board and we have a strong bowling attack, will look to defend. This is a par score but we will have to bowl and field well. Making the debut is a special feeling. Everyone is excited about this opportunity,” Devdutt PAdikkal said.
