It seems that there is no end to Fakhar Zaman’s miseries in Asia Cup. After getting a start against India, Zaman failed to consolidate and got out in a weird fashion to Kuldeep Chahal. Twitterati looked at the lighter side of the incident and trolled the Pakistani batsman for his abysmal performance.

Yet another frustratingly slow start for Zaman

The Pakistan opener came into this game with some pressure as he failed to open his account in his previous two outings. This pressure of scoring runs and India’s tight bowling resulted in yet another agonizingly slow start by Zaman.

The opener played out a maiden over against Jasprit Bumrah and scored his first boundary after facing 36 balls. But just when he looked set for a big score he tried to innovate and lost his wicket.

Zaman trapped in front of wickets by Kuldeep Yadav

However, just when the left-hand batsman looked set for a big score he failed to slog sweep Kuldeep Yadav in the 15th over of the innings. Zaman who was playing on 31 runs off 42 balls at that moment took a long stride forward to slog sweep the chinaman bowler.

But Zaman failed to reach to the pitch of the ball and slipped on the pitch after losing his balance. The ball hit him on the body and India appealed for leg before wicket. As the batsman was right in front of the stumps, the umpire gave him out.

Zaman had a discussion with his batting partner Babar Azam about a review but he didn’t take it and accepted the umpire’s verdict. However, the replays showed that the ball had, in fact, hit Zaman’s glove first and then had hit his body.

Thus, if Zaman had opted for a review, he would have survived.
