Added responsibility of captaincy makes Rohit a better batsman: Gavaskar

At the same time Gavaskar praised India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma. The right-hand batsman said that as a batsman, the added responsibility only makes Rohit better. He also added that every time he has got an opportunity to captain India, he has shown his acumen and has shown how patient he can be.

Gavaskar noted that the first time Rohit led Mumbai Indians to an IPL win, that was his first season as a captain and he impressed straight away with his knowledge of what to do next more than what to plan.

Rohit Sharma has been in sterling form in the Asia Cup. He scored a quick-fire 23 against Hong Kong, blasted a 39-ball-52 run knock against Pakistan and scored 83 not out against Bangladesh.
