Former India batsman, Dilip Vengsarkar, came to support the young Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. According to sources, Pant is to make his Test debut in the third Test at Trent Bridge. India’s batting has been very disappointing in the first two test matches. India is trailing against England by 0-2. As a result, the third test match is very challenging for the entire Indian squad and they will be trying their best to win the match.

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli had stroked a century alone at the first Test match, still, they lost the match. In the second Test match also, the Indian batting line-up collapsed as a result of which they lost by an innings and 159 runs. Due to this reason, it is a challenging task for the team management to boost the morale of the squad ahead of the Nottingham Test, which starts from August 18. Even skipper Kohli is suffering from back injury. Dilip Vengsarkar has suggested the inclusion of Pant, to the Playing 11.

Rishabh Pant should get in, “Vengsarkar told BBC Radio. “Apart from Kohli, nobody has shown that they could score runs here.”

Even at Lord’s, the batsmen collapsed quite early, but Dilip, the former Indian batsman, who had once made three centuries on three back-to-back visits to Lord’s between 1979 and 1986 was quite confident that the batsmen can perform way better than this.

“Whether it’s English or Australian conditions, you have to adapt quickly. You have to apply yourself and get runs,” he said. “You have to give respect to the bowlers.”

Vengsarkar, who scored 6,868 runs in 116 Tests, does not believe the results on this tour would affect India’s future matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, in England and Wales. He hopes the side would replicate the success of the 1983 edition in England, which he was part of, he said, “It’s the one-day game, and India are good in the one-day game. They’ve done well in the past. English conditions will suit our spinners as well as medium pacers.”
