The much popular IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, on yesterday, shocked their fans and followers as they removed their profile picture from all of their social media accounts across the web. Their Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook went blank and fans were left scratching their heads. The profile picture has been missing on their Instagram which has 3.3 million followers. Also, all posts, including photographs from previous seasons are also missing. Their social media handles, which are otherwise very active with frequent posts, have gone freezed.

The most unfortunate side

They have been unfortunate not to win an IPL trophy despite reaching the finals multiple times, and even has been at the bottom of the points table for two of the last three seasons and has been changing their support staff and squad ahead of the IPL 2020 season. Despite having a star studded lineup with the likes of Virat Kohli and  AB de villiers, they never had a chance to hold on to the prestegious IPL trophy.

New changes

They brought in former New Zealand and Kings XI coach Mike Hesson as Director of Cricket operations, while Simon Katich was named the head coach. Mithun Manhas and Basu Shanker joined the support staff as well.

It seems to bring in good luck and start afresh, the social media accounts removed Bangalore from their names and just ‘Royal Challengers’ remained. The same was done on their Instagram and Facebook accounts, which left some people highly concerned. There are also speculations that they are planning to change ‘Bangalore’ to ‘Bengaluru’ due to protest from local fans.  A change of logo and jersey colours are also predicted.

RCB’s actions come a day after the IPL franchise signed Muthoot Fincorp as their title sponsor for IPL 2020. RCB on Tuesday announced a three-year partnership with Muthoot Fincorp Ltd, a part of the Muthoot Pappachan Group, popularly known as Muthoot Blue, a diversified conglomerate in the financial services industry.

Players, fans and rest of the teams puzzled

But this sudden move have left the fans and even their own players left scratching their heads. RCB captain Virat Kohli, ABD, Chahal and coach hesson took to twitter to reveal their shock.

Whereas rest of the franchises took this opportunity to troll their IPL rival. CSK mentioned that our sea be so empty now. Whereas DC offered help in rebranding.
