Virat Kohli

The year 2019 has been full of good memories for team India. Apart from some blips here and there, Kohli & Co. have set their standards high and their ardent fans wish for a majestic 2020.

They capped off 2019 with an ODI series triumph over West Indies by 2-1, which tend skipper Virat Kohli to quote “India will keep pursuing success on cricket’s global stage”.

India’s terrific performance helped them finish 2019 with a numero-uno position in Tests and second in the ODIs.

Kohli wishes for ICC Trophy

“We’ll keep chasing that ICC trophy,” said Virat Kohli after series win against West Indies.

The Indian Team in Virat’s able leadership has achieved great success this year, however, a bitter fact can’t be taken away from them as they have failed to win any ICC trophy for the last 6 years, which is definitely something on captain Kohli‘s radar for the upcoming year.

“Well, it’s been one of the best years forĀ Indian cricket, to be honest, apart from playing the cricket that we played for half an hour in the World Cup,” Kohli said at the presentation ceremony in Cuttack after India’s series win against West Indies.

India’s last global triumph came in the year 2013 when the MS Dhoni-led Indian team lifted Champions Trophy for the second time in their rich cricketing history.

BCCI president also had his say

Not even the skipper, but the former skipper and the current president of BCCI also had his say on this matter. He also emphasized that an ICC trophy is a must if India needs to stamp its authority on global competitions.

What’s next for Virat and Co.

After an amazing end to 2019, India’s primary objective would be to lift the 2020 T20 World Cup which is all set to be played in Australia in the month of October.

However, their next assignment comes in the form of Sri Lanka who will be visiting the Indian shores followed by a three-match ODI home series against Australia.
