With the series already captured by the hosts, India has only one thing to cherish for, and that is the captain’s performance throughout the series. Indian skipper Virat Kohli hammered 18,000 international runs in just 382 innings which made him surpass the likes of the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, West-Indian legend Brian Lara and Australian Legend Ricky Ponting of 412, 411 and 422 innings respectively.
Virat Kohli added this feather to his cap at the Oval during his knock of 49 runs on the second day of the last Test of the series. After this record-breaking innings, Virat became the part of the Indian staircase consisting Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.
Twitter Reactions:
Well, the series is seized by England but what came to the guest’s side is Virat Kohli decimating England’s bowling line-up on English conditions. Not only this, but Virat also got his name on the Trent Bridge honour board after notching his 23rd Test Century. He not only touched the mark of 18,000 international runs but he also reached 6,000 Test runs in just 70 innings.

Apart from the skipper, no one impressed the audience with his tactics. It looks like the team was ready to play in the English conditions. The newbie Hanuma Vihari made his debut memorable by scoring a half-century and replacement of longtime selection R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, made a class comeback by scoring 86* runs in his only match, else no performance from the batting side is worth discussing for. Indian bowling once again showed their mettle on the ground, and as a bowling unit, we were pretty successful in taking all 20 wickets to convert the on-field efforts into a result.
It is a same old story but in a different book. Once again Virat and company were looking helpless in the fore and The Three Lions sealed the series in front of the opposition.
