If there was any batsman who provided nightmares to bowlers across the world in the modern era across all formats, it has to be Abraham Benjamin DeVilliers. Known for his ability to hit the ball to each and every part of the ground, Mr. 360 opened up about his life, cricket memories and various other stuff on an Instagram live session with commentator Pommie Mbangwa.
Toughest Indian bowler to face for ABD
As Mbangwa had India’s favourite foreign cricketer on the other side for his Instagram live, his chat session was flooded with messages. One among question was who according to ABD is the toughest Indian bowler to face.
ABD replied that his answer varies according to format. And he later picked one for each format. For T20I’s he named Jasprit Bumrah as the toughest to face. He said that at his first sight he saw Bumrah as just an ordinary bowler, but he has developed so well as an incredible bowler now. His ability to maintain and increase the pace of the ball after pitching it makes him one of the toughest to face.
In ODI’s he named Mohammed Shami as the toughest Indian bowler to face. He added that he has always enjoyed facing Shami and Shami has found out a way to use his 10 over spell in ODI’s to full perfection.
The Spin duo test
DeVilliers admited that when you are playing tests in the turning tracks in India there is no better or tougher bowlers to face than the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. He added that their stats speaks for themselves and he remembered their match against India in Mohali where the spin duo kept the proteas struggling. He said that even though there was some help from the pitch, they both managed to keep the proteas batsman thinking on their toes.
