The Indian team has been in the shores of New Zealand for the last month and a half. They have had two contrasting performances in the two limited overs series. They whitewashed the home nation 5-0 in T20Is in what was a historic series win. But then in the ODIs with an inexperienced lineup they were outclassed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Kiwis.

The limited overs leg is done and the mood is set for a classical test series to begin on 21st February at Wellington.

New faces in the dressing room.

The change from coloured clothing to whites indicates the arrival of test match specialists into the squad. The Indian vice captain for test matches Ajikya Rahane has joined the group along with other test specialists like Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara , Hanuma Vihari , Saha and Ravi Ashwin. Ahead of the first test match it was the turn of one of the new arrival but a seasoned professional Ajinkya Rahane to face the media people for a press conference.

Rahane turns into a tourist!

When settling down to answer some questions regarding the game the opposition, the pitch, the team composition etc. Rahane had a lighter moment with a journalist where he was seen talking in his mother tongue Marathi. The conversation was about the tourist spots in New Zealand and especially Queenstown. Watch the video here:

Cracker of a contest on cards.
The first test match between India and New Zealand promises to be a cracker of a contest. There is going to be a test series after a long gap between the two nations in New Zealand so the excitement is high. Also this series has an additional layer to it.

This will be part of the all important World Test Championship. India are currently leading the points table comfortably and a win of a match or both will significantly improve their chances of qualifying for the finals.
