Sometimes, on-field play in cricket can create some hilarious moments for the fans watching the game. And that can also lead to some confusion in the middle for the umpires as well.

Kyle Verreynne breaks down stumps on both ends

We have come across something when both batsmen end up at the same crease and umpires have to decide about which batsman to be declared out. But what happened in Cape Town on Wednesday was something unique and very rare sight on the cricket field.

Cape Cobras were hosting Dolphins in the ongoing Momentum ODI cup at Cape Town. Prenelan Subrayen was at the striker’s end in the penultimate over of the innings. He swung hard and missed the ball completely. Batsman took off immediately for the quick single but Kyle Verreynne standing behind the wickets for the Cobras was quite agile. He collected the ball and straight away aimed at striker’s end. Keshav Maharaj made it comfortably at that end but Verreynne noticed that Subrayen was slow taking off the blocks. Keeper collected the ball again and hit the stumps at bowler’s end where Subrayen was found short of the crease and given run-out by the TV umpire.

Dolphins beat Cobras in a low scoring tie

Batting first on Newlands pitch, Dolphins never quite going on the slow wicket. With the help of Keshav Maharaj and Grant Roelofsen, Dolphins posted 183 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. This score looked below par at the innings break but that was not the case in the end. Again Keshav Maharaj grabbed the headlines with 4 wickets and Daryn Dupavillion ended up with 3 wickets. Aviwe Mgijima fought lone hand for the Cobras with 69 run knock but eventually that was not enough for the hosts.
