Dunk’s 99 seals a great win for Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars found themselves chasing 188 at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore on Sunday against Karachi Kings. A win was a must for them to ensure them that they are not knocked out of the tournament. But the chase fell apart very quickly when Mohammad Hafeez failed to accelerate and push the score in the powerplay overs. Ben Dunk came out to bat at number 4, with the score at 50 for 2 in the 9th over.

The chase was looking slightly out of reach at this time but the Australian left-hander produced one of the best knocks of the tournament to get Qalandars to a magnificent victory. He played just 40 balls for his unbeaten knock of 99. During this innings, Ben Dunk hit 12 sixes and three fours. Dunk, now also holds the record for most sixes in the tournament with 23 maximums to his name. His knock ensured that Lahore reached the total with 5 balls to spare. Sohail Akhtar, the captain of Qalandar accompanied Dunk with 68 runs off just 46 balls. His innings included six fours and two sixes.
