An inspired fielding effort can change the course of the game and we can see this happen several times. Sometimes, the spirit of a team is uplifted largely if someone takes a stunning catch or runs out a batsman. Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz did something similar on Tuesday at Sylhet.
During the second ODI between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, Mehidy Hasan pulled out an amazing run out, which would be remembered for some time at least. During Zimbabwe's innings, Mehidy ran out Brendan Taylor with a direct hit on the stumps. The incident took place in the 10th over when Taylor nudged one delivery to mid-on and tried to snatch a quick single. Mehidy ran towards the ball and dived to get his left hand on it. While being airborne, he took the ball in his right hand and threw it. The ball went and hit the stumps as Taylor found himself short of the crease. The 22-year old Mehidy Hasan Miraz is known for bowling off-spin and does have the ability to pack a punch with the bat. He is one of the better fielders from Bangladesh. Fans on Twitter compared Mehidy's sensational fielding effort with the great Jonty Rhodes. Dismissing the best batsman of the opposition line-up is always a great feeling and Mehidy should get the credit for the outstanding throw.
Leading the three-match ODI series by 1-0, Bangladesh batted first and scored 322 for 8 in their 50 overs. Tamim Iqbal notched up 158 runs from 136 balls and thereby breaking his century drought in international cricket. Valuable contributions from Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and Mohammad Mithun took the hosts' score past 300. After 30 overs in second innings', the visitors had lost track of the chase and were reeling at 138 for 4.
