The road to world T20 has begun in a grand fashion. The teams from all over the world have started to invest their time and strategy for the all-important Marquee event that is set to take place in Australia later this year.

All the teams are playing a lengthy T20 series in order to prepare themselves for the world cup.

The 50 over defending champions are on a roll as far as T20s are concerned. They recently played a 5 match T20 series in New Zealand and now they are playing a 3 match T20I series against the Proteas.

Lungi Ngidi outfoxes the Poms
The 1st T20I between England and South Africa turned out to be a humdinger of a game. The game had all the thrilling moments that a cricket fan would ask for. The South Africans who are on a rebuilding phase have notched up a brilliant win to go 1-nil up in the 3-match T20I series.

Their star bowler Lungi Ngidi defended 7 runs off the final over to give Proteas a much-needed win. It was unbelievable scenes at the Buffalo Park.

Fewest runs successfully defended in the 20th over for South Africa:

7 runs – Dale Steyn vs NZ, 2014
7 runs – LUNGI NGIDI vs ENG, 2020
This is also the first time England lost a T20I by as few as one run.

England were well set to take the game easily but last minute choke from England gave South Africa enough time to sneak a victory.

Steyn-gun is back
The veteran pacer Dale Steyn played his first international game after a gap of 10 months. He seemed to be fit and looked like a man on a mission. He gave away 33 runs in his 4 overs to go with the all important wicket of Buttler. The dashing pacer bowled 3 overs in the power play and gave South Africa the perfect start with the ball

Earlier South Africa posted a par score of 177 runs with Temba Bavuma top-scoring for them as he missed his well-deserved half-century by 7 runs.

England started their chase in a blistering fashion with Roy scoring a 38 ball 70 runs knock. The England captain continued from where Roy left as he completed his half century in 34 balls but in the end wasn’t good enough to take his team past home.
