Who won today’s IPL match?: Match 8 of the IPL 2022 saw Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Punjab Kings at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The match saw the Shreyas Iyer-led side dominating most of the game. Although PBKS had their moments in the match it was a complete performance by KKR to earn their second win of the season by 6 wickets.
Asked to bat first, Punjab Kings lost skipper Mayank Agarwal for just one run. After that Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a sensational cameo and scored 31 runs in just 9 balls. However, after that KKR dented the opposition’s batting line-up and bundled them out for just 137 runs. The Sri Lanka to-scored for his side and a fiery knock by Kagiso Rabada in the end helped the Mayank Agarwal-led side post a fighting total on the board. For KKR, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers and registered his career best figures of 4/20.

Chasing the target, KKR too had poor start with the as they lost both the openers in Ajinkya Rahane (12) and Venkatesh Iyer (3) inside the power play. Rahul Chahar then removed both Shreyas Iyer (26) and Nitish Rana (0) in the se then over and left the opposition tumbling at 51/4. But after that it was Andre Russell’s (70*) show as he smacked PBKS bowlers to all the part of the ground. He along with Sam Billings (23) made sure that KKR doesn’t lose anymore wickets and win the match with ease.
KKR Pacer Umesh Yadav was named Player of the Match in today’s encounter against Punjab Kings. The right-arm pacer registered his best figures in the IPL, returning with the 4/23. He first jolted the PBKS with the wicket of their skipper in the first over and then removed Liam Livingstone, who was looking dangerous. If this was not enough, he then returned to remove Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar. During his spell, Umesh also bowled a maiden over and helped his side bundle out Punjab for just 137 runs.
