WI Playing 11: West Indies will face Pakistan in the first T20I of the series here at Kensington Oval, Barbados. The hosts lost the ODI series to Australia recently but have been in good T20 form of late. They defeated Australia 4-1 in their last T20I series and will be looking to carry that form here. Players like Gayle, Russell and Dwayne Bravo give their side immense strength and pose a lot of danger for the opposition. The head-to-head record shows the competition has been one-sided with Pakistan leading West Indies 11-3. But Windies’ star players surely make them favourites for this match.

Team News

  • Skipper Kieron Pollard will be back to lead the side after missing the last T20I series due to injury.
  • Shimron Hetmyer is likely to be back after missing the last T20I.
  • Fabian Allen’s availability is still a question mark. Akeal Hosein will keep his place if Allen is unfit.

Chris Gayle

West Indies will hope their powerful batting line-up clicks. Simmons and Lewis have been excellent at the top giving them good starts. Gayle’s inconsistency will be a concern for the team management. Pollard and Pooran can be destructive in the lower middle order. In bowling, Obed McCoy has been WI’s leading fast bowler in T20Is. He will be crucial at the death along with Dwayne Bravo. It will be interesting to see how the bowlers bowl to Babar Azam at the top.
