Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa Available for RCB vs KKR: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have started off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign on a remarkable note with two brilliant back-to-back wins. The Virat Kohli-led team defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2021 season opener and then also emerged victorious against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their recent outing. RCB are currently at the top position on the points table and now also, two of their premier overseas players have finished their mandatory quarantine period.
RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson has confirmed that the Aussie duo of Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa have finished their quarantine and they will be available for their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 18 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Zampa missed the opening two matches due to his marriage while Richardson also landed late in India for IPL 2021. Devdutt Padikkal also returned to the playing XI in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad after completely recovering from Covid-19.
In the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Glenn Maxwell played an excellent innings of 59 runs off 41 balls that included 5 fours and 3 sixes to help RCB reach a challenging total of 149 for 8 in their 20 overs. While defending an average first innings total, SRH skipper David Warner got his team off to a brilliant start with a superb knock of 54 runs off 37 balls. However, the young left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed bowled a match-defining over where he picked three important wickets of Manish Pandey, Abdul Samad and Jonny Bairstow to turn the game on its head. In the end, Harshal Patel held his nerves impressively well to guide RCB to a 6-run win over SRH.
With Richardson and Zampa available for selection, it will now be interesting to see whether the Royal Challengers Bangalore opt to change their winning combination for the KKR match or not.
