World Test Championship Final, India vs New Zealand: It will be very much right to say that the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand has produced some riveting cricket action. Other than the weather, it has been the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand team that has dominated a significant part of the ultimate Test match. However, Rishabh Pant looked as the only sigh of hope for India.
After India lost the key wickets of captain Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane early on Day 6 of the IND vs NZ, WTC Final, swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant decided to take the attack to the New Zealand bowlers. Pant was seen playing his special outrageous reverse scoop shot off a short delivery bowled by Neil Wagner during the second session on Day 6 of the Test match. Both the crowd and the commentators were absolutely astonished after seeing Pant’s confidence of playing that shot in such a pressure situation.
Here are some of the reactions to Rishabh Pant’s reverse scoop shot on Twitter:
A lot of questions will surely be asked from India’s strange aggressive approach adopted in the ongoing WTC Final against New Zealand. Despite losing early wickets on the final day, Indian batters kept on playing their aggressive shots against the Kiwi pacers and as a result they have been bundled out for 170 runs in the second innings. Pant was the top-scorer for India as he scored 41 runs off 88 balls that included 4 boundaries. For New Zealand, Tim Southee picked up four wickets while Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson took three and two wickets respectively.
New Zealand need to chase down the target of 139 runs to be crowned as the first-ever World Test Champions while India have to take 10 wickets to win the Test match.
