In the last 2 Tests, the England batsmen have showed resilience in their stay at the crease and have complimented the bowlers in their purpose of winning the test matches. While, the Indian team have not been able to break certain partnerships and were troubled by top-order in 3rd Test, while middle-order of the England performed quite well in the 4th Test match. Now, the match is set at at an important juncture and Day 3 is likely decide the course of the test match.

Woakes scores half-century to put England in Advantage

The bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes made a comeback into the test side after a long time and replaced Sam Curran who was not contributing enough in the last few matches. Woakes stabilized the innings in the lower-order and scored half-century to help the team in getting a fine lead of 99 runs, which will play an important role in the result of the test match.

Ollie Pope, who also returned to the 11 in the test match by replacing Jos Buttler scored 81 runs and was the top-scorer for the home team. The significant contributions of 30+ also came from Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali.

Can Indian batters put up a solid show in the 2nd innings?

The performance of Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will be vital for the visitors. With conditions favourable to the batters, they have played out the last 16 overs of the Day 2 well and will look to maintain the same performance.

It is expected that the batters will have a good time at Oval in the next few days of the test match. It will all depend on the performances of Rahane and Pujara, who have looked short of confidence in most part of this series to lead the fightback and help the team in scoring as much runs as possible.
