IND vs ENG: The 4th Test between India and England is nicely set up heading into the final day. All three results are still possible. India were bowled out for 468 in their second innings, setting up a mammoth 369 for the hosts to chase. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed took England to 77 at stumps unscathed. The first session will be very tricky and dictate how the match progresses.
London weather known for its freakish weather has allowed uninterrupted play so far. Yesterday was the most glorious day of all with clouds disappearing into the blue sky. All batsmen were amongst the runs as the sun beamed down upon the ground.
It is another fine day with a little more cloud cover. The winds will continue to be light with humidity a comfortable 50-60%. Temperatures will be in the mid-twenties during the day.
After being assigned a target of 368, England finished Day 4 with a score of 77/0. Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns batted brilliantly to go through the overs without losing wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was introduced early into the attack with some spin and rough patches on offer.
India finished with 468 in 148 overs after pyrotechnics from Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav. Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur put up a 100-run partnership, with both players getting half-centuries. Pant recorded his first half-century of the series, while Thakur got his second fifty of the match.
England, on the other hand, struck quickly to eliminate both set batsmen. England dominated the first session, with Moeen Ali taking the crucial wicket of Virat Kohli. The first hour belonged to India, but finally, the session went England’s way, as Chris Woakes bowled Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession. Rahane’s struggles continued as he failed to trouble the scorers.
