Brisbane, December 19 at 01:45 PM IST
One of the most-awaited cricket leagues in the world- Big Bash League kickstarts tomorrow with reigning champions Adelaide Strikers locking horns with Brisbane Heat at the iconic The Gabba, Brisbane in the series opener. The clash will begin at 01:45 PM IST.
The defending champions, Adelaide Strikers would be looking to start the campaign on a high and clinch victory in the opening encounter. In the last four head to head encounters with Brisbane Heat, Strikers have managed to cross the line three times. They haven’t made any significant changes this year and most of their squad is the same. While their regular skipper is busy with the test squad against India, Colin Ingram has been given the responsibility to lead the squad. Peter Siddle, Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake and Alex Carey are some of the key players, Strikers will be counting upon.
In this season, Brisbane Heat will play under the leadership of Chris Lynn who has taken over the responsibilities from Brendon McCullum. Unlike last year, Heat would be hoping for a better campaign this year and might be eyeing on the title win. In BBL 2017, Heat finished bottom-second with just four wins in a total of ten encounters.
Heat have signed Mujeeb Ur Rahman as their new signing this year. The Afghan spinner replaces Shadab Khan and Yasir Shah from last years’ squad.
In the last four outings, Adelaide Strikers have thrashed Brisbane Heat three times.
Rashid Khan was the highest wicket taking bowler in last edition with 18 scalps in bag.
