Sri Lanka are all set to begin the defence of their Asia Cup crown as they will take on Bangladesh in the 2nd game of the Asia Cup 2023. The game will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Thursday at 3:00 PM IST.
Sri Lanka have already qualified for the ODI World Cup 2023 by winning the qualifying tournament and they will now look to finalize their preparations by putting up a strong show in the Asia Cup. They are placed in a relatively easy group alongside Bangladesh and Afghanistan and would not want any slip-ups on their way to the Super-4.
Dasun Shanaka (C), Kusal Janith Perera, Kusal Mendis (VC), Charith Asalanka, Pathum Nissanaka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dushan Hemantha, Dunith Wellalage, Matheesha Pathirana, Binura Fernando, and Pramod Madushan.
In the absence of their key bowlers, Sri Lanka’s batting will have to carry the burden of scoring big runs to give their bowlers breathing space. In such a case, Kusal Mendis and Dimuth Karunaratne will be their key players against Bangladesh.
