Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand 2018-19 | SL vs NZ Dream11 Only T20I Match Prediction

Sri Lanka vs New Zealand Match Preview | Who Will Win Today Match

Auckland, January 11, Friday at 11:30 AM IST

With Ross Taylor’s 20th hundred and Henry Nicholls fiery unbeaten 124, New Zealand completely dominated Sri Lanka to register a crushing 115 runs victory in the third and last ODI to clean sweep the visitors by 3-0. Both the sides will now lock horns in the only T20I scheduled to take place at Eden Park, Auckland on Friday. While Sri Lanka would be hoping a win to salvage pride and take something back from the tour, Black Caps would be eyeing for a complete tour wash.

The visitors have remained winless so far in their New Zealand tour. The three-day practice match was drawn, first test match at Wellington ended in a draw, following which New Zealand registered a mammoth 423 runs win in the second test to clinch the test series by 1-0 and have now whitewashed Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the ODIs too.

Williamson rested; Southee to lead NZ

In the only T20I, hosts will be led by Tim Southee as the regular skipper Kane Willamson has been given rest. Apart from this, New Zealand will also miss the services of Jimmy Neesham who was quite instrumental in the ODI series. The hosts posted three consecutive 300+ scores in the ODI series with Neesham contributing –  47* off 13, 64 of 37 and 12 off 6. However, with Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, Tim Southee, M Santner, and Ish Sodhi in their line up, hosts are expected to give another tough competition to Lasith Malinga’s Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka look for turnaround

Sri Lanka always looked a step behind while chasing 300+ totals in the ODIs and with the change in format, Lasith Malinga led side would be hoping some turnaround. With Kusal Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Dhananjaya de Silva and Thisara Perera in their batting line up, all of whom were among the top run-getters for the side, and Seekkuge Prasanna, Lakshan Sandakan, Nuwaan Pradeep, Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara in the bowling attack, Sri Lanka has a fair chance to salvage pride.

Recent T20Is form:

Both the sides are experiencing a rough patch in the shortest format of the game. Sri Lanka has faced four defeats in the last five encounters while the hosts have been even worse. New Zealand has not managed a single win in last six T20I outings and has only secured one win in last ten T20Is.

Sri Lanka – L, W, L, L, L,

New Zealand – L, L, L, L, L

Pitch Report:

The Eden Park in Auckland has small boundaries which makes it a perfect T20 venue for the run fest. With a number of big hitters on both the sides, another high scoring affair in the series is certain to take place. However, there’s also a little chance of rain interrupting the game.
