Somerset got off to a winning start in the Vitality Blast 2019 after Tom Banton fired up in the opening clash against Glamorgan to chase down the target of 181.
With an excellent start from the top three batters, Glamorgan should have posted 200+ total but a combined bowling effort from Roelof van der Merwe, Craig Overton and Jerome Taylor resulted in a 181 target.
Coming to chase, Tom Banton’s swashbuckling 64 of just 34 deliveries gave the perfect start to Somerset which was then carried forward by Peter Trego (47* of 31). As a result, Somerset secured eight wickets win with two overs to spare. They will now look to continue their momentum and multiply their wins when they face off Kent Spitfires tomorrow at Chelmsford.
Playing their opening fixture, Kent Spitfires will look to get their Vitality Blast campaign underway with a win. Last season, they got knocked out by 6 wickets against Lancashire in the first quarter-final and will be hoping to get to finals this time.
The clash will begin at 11:00 PM IST.
