Both teams have collided twice in the league stage and had tasted victory once. Sunrisers defeated the Capitals at the Kotla quite convincingly by 5 wickets, whereas, the Capitals took sweet revenge by defeating SRH at their own backyard at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad by 39 runs.

This is a big occasion especially for the Delhi Capitals who are going into the playoffs after a 7-year lay-off. It was the year 2012 when the Mahela Jayawardene led Delhi franchise made their way among the last four.
