IPL salary : The cricketing bonanza- Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 adjourned abruptly on May 4 owing to the unprecedented rise of coronavirus cases among players and staff of the franchises. The big call off decision from the IPL GC and the BCCI came after successive positive reports for Covid-19 were reported from the franchises bio-bubble environment. Since then, questions have been mongering not just pertaining to hosting the remainder of IPL 2021 matches, but also regarding players’ salaries as the tournament was called off mid-way.

Since half of IPL 2021 was successfully hosted, the players received 1/3rd of their salary, with the remaining subject to the completion of the season.

Players to receive full IPL salary in case of tournament suspension?

 

Australian Cricketers in IPL 2021

As per recent reports, players who featured in the current edition of the tournament- IPL 2021 are expected to receive their full salary even if the remaining portion of the league is cancelled or the players are not able to come back in the rescheduled part of the league.

Albeit the franchises book a loss due to the cancellation of the tournament, the insurance policies contracted with the IPL franchises will ensure that the players get paid their full amount of salary.

Australian Players to draw lucrative salaries

After Indian players, Australian players follow in terms of drawing the maximum aggregative salary from IPL this season. Abiding by the bids during the auction contracts, the cash-rich-league is expected to discharge whopping cumulative salaries to Australian players.

With the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Jhye Richardson clinching spots in the top 5 most expensive players in the IPL 2021 auction, the officials are to release a collective amount of nearly INR 132 crores on the Australian cricketers.

While Pat Cummins and David Warner attracted good retention amounts during this IPL season, the power hitter Glenn Maxwell (salary of INR 14.25 crores) got him in the 3rd spot whereas Jhye Richardson (salary of INR 14 crores) notched the 4th spot in the highest-paid players’ list of the season.
