Krunal Pandya Tom Curran fight: Krunal Pandya was one of the stars of the show in the first innings as he scored a scintillating half century on debut. Pandya came in to bat when the score was 205 for the fall of five wickets in 40 overs. But him along with KL Rahul compiled a well compiled partnership of 112 runs from just 57 balls which got India to 317.
Krunal Pandya made 58* of just 31 deliveries and was emotional as ever after scoring his maiden fifty. One of the moments to watch during his tenure on the wicket was when Pandya and Tom Curran were involved in a tussle, in which the umpire later had to intervene.
The action took place in the penultimate over of the innings. Tom Curran had bowled a slower bouncer, which went over the batsman’s head. It was later given as a wide, and Tom Curran was not impressed by that decision. Krunal Pandya then went on to take a single on the next delivery , and his way to the non strikers end, Curran had a word or two to say to his face. Krunal Pandya didn’t welcome that at all, and responded with a mouthful.
Tensions died down after a while, but Krunal Pandya went on his merry way till the final over with some sublime strokes. KL Rahul’s knock of 62* from 43 also helped the Men in Blue get to a decent target.
With 318 to chase, England got off to the perfect start with Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow compiling a partnership of 134 in just 14 overs. However, two wickets apiece from Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur has got India back into the game.
