Joe Root

The most popular cricketer in world cricket that hasn’t played even a single IPL match has to be Joe Root. He’s the only member of the Fab 4’, a fans-created category that includes Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson in addition to himself, who has not played featured in the cash-rich league. Despite having good numbers in the T20s, the franchises have not shown any deep interest in England’s premier batsman.

IND vs ENG

In 32 T20I matches, England’s Test skipper has scored 893 runs to go with an average of 35.72 and a strike rate of 126.31. He played a vital role for England in T20 World Cup 2016 as he was the leading run-getter for Eoin Morgan-led side, notching up 273 runs at a strike rate of 146.77.

The swashbuckling batsman scored a 36-ball 54 runs in the final but couldn’t help his team clinch the title as they lost to West Indies by four wickets. Having impressive numbers in T20s, top-class batsman like Root deserves to be a part of a great tournament like IPL.
