IPL 2021

The injury concerns, scheduled T20 World Cup, are the reasons for few players opting out to play in IPL 2021 Phase 2. The Indian players, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan who play for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals will not be available as they sustained injuries during a tour to England. The Australian bowler Pat Cummins and his wife are expecting their child in the middle of Phase 2, and will not be a part of the tournament. While, Jofra Archer is out for the rest of the year, and his team-mate Jos Buttler also expecting a child and remaining unavailable.

Stokes unlikely to be a part of IPL 2021

The England all-rounder Ben Stokes is not likely to take part in the Indian Premier League Phase 2 in UAE. He announced indefinite break from Cricket on July 30, which meant he would not play the entire test series against India and also did not participate in The Hundred. The all-rounder wanted to focus on “mental well being” after his dad passed away in December last year.

The England coach Chris Silverwood was asked about Stokes return into international cricket. He said, “No, there is no pushing from my point of view, I don’t think you can push with these issues. I will wait and there will be an element of waiting for him to come to me to let me know he is ready.” It is clear that there has been no communication between the coach and all-rounder in recent days.
