After a stunning defeat in the opener of the three-match ODI series, Sri Lanka Women will come out to level the series when they meet Pakistan Women in the second One Day International at Dambulla.
It was Javeria Khan show in the first match, who cracked a brilliant 113 (not out) to help Pakistan clinch a 69-run win. She arrived at the crease when Pakistan Women were tottering at 19 for 2, losing both openers – Nahida Khan and Muneeba Ali – in a quick succession. The wickets continued to tumble around her but she carried the innings to help her side post a challenging total.
In reply, Sri Lanka Women got off to a terrible start losing opener Hasini Perera on the very second ball of the innings. Their innings never got the needed momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals. The hosts could only get to 181 runs, falling short by 69 runs.

Pakistan: Apart from Javeria Khan’s hundred, the other batswomen who chipped in Pakistan’s innings were Nida Dar, Sana Mir and Natalia Pervaiz. With the ball, skipper Bismah Maroof picked three wickets while Sana Mir and Nashra Sandhu bowling tightly to keep Sri Lanka Women quiet in the chase.
Sri Lanka Women were outplayed in all three departments of the game. They will require a spirited show to keep the series alive. The odds are in favour of Pakistan.
