Bangladesh last featured in a test series against Sri Lanka at home and the first match of the series witnessed a heavy run fest as a total of 1533 runs were scored in 5 days and it was obvious with a mammoth run fest like this the test match had to end up in a draw.

Bangladesh batted first after winning the toss on a flat track and registered a score in a surplus of 500. They scored heavily on the back of Mominul Haque who got a brilliant hundred(176 off 214) and Mushfiqur Rahim, who missed out on a century by 8 runs, and therefore they compiled the team total to 513 runs.

In reply, the Sri Lankan batters almost batted for 2 days and piled up a humongous score to declare at 713/9 riding on with two brilliant knocks from Kusal Mendis(196) and Roshen Silva(109). The lead was approximate 200 runs and in the second innings on the last day of the test match Bangladesh they ended up scoring 307 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

If the first test was fruitful for the batters, the bowlers made a mark in the second one which saw Sri Lanka winning the test match by 75 runs as they were not able to touch the 200 run mark in both the innings.

The pitch was a spinning paradise where Akila Dananajaya claimed a five-for in the first innings while veteran Rangana Herath ended up taking 4 in the first innings. Akila once again was the star of second innings as he claimed 3 more to end the test match with match figures of 8 for 44.
