Cricket’s newest format T10 has taken over the fan base of this beautiful game. It all started with Abu Dhabi T10 league which saw many big names coming together to promote this new format. Now, Vincy T10 League is here to take the centerstage.
Vincy Premier League is a franchise T10 competition based in St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex. India’s most popular fantasy cricket app Dream11 is the title sponsor of the tournament.
This will become the first cricket tournament to be played under ICC’s full-member nation amid the COVID-19 pandemic which for almost 2 months put the human life on a standstill.
The Caribbean Premier League still remains as the pinnacle franchise-led tournament in the Caribbean. The latest prodigy Vincy Premier League T10 has its base set in St Vincent and the Grenadines which was formed back in 1946.
The club has produced many cricketers over the years and out of them, 19 Vincentians have represented West Indies in International Cricket. This is the inaugural season of the tournament and if it gets the numbers they are looking for, this won’t be the last for sure.
With the global pandemic still making noises, all the sporting events around the world are taking place behind closed doors. However, things are different in Vincy 10 League as the organizers have opened gates for the spectators.
The tournament will also be the first in its kind to not allow the use of Saliva for shining the ball. This is a new revelation in cricket and for the first time, we won’t see players using saliva or sweat to shine the ball. Cricket West Indies has strictly opposed it.
The 10-day tournament will commence from 22nd May and will last until the 31st of May. A total of 30 matches, 3 in a day will be played in T10 format including the finals. All the matches will take place at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex at St Vincent. It is a round-robin format where each team will collide with the other in the group stage and the top 4 teams will progress to the semi-finals.
