After an enthralling ODI series between them, the focus shifted toward the T20I series between Sri Lanka and South Africa, which kick-started on 10th September. The visitors displayed a clinical performance to bag the match by 28 runs to take an unaccessible 0-1 lead in the three-match T20I series. The second T20I between the nations will take place today (12th September) at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo and it would be interesting to see if the visitors after loss in the ODI series can stage a comeback to seal the T20I series. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would be hoping to level the series and take the toll onto the decider which will take place on, 14th September.

The first T20I between Sri Lanka and South Africa saw the victors showing their class in the shortest form of the game. Opted to bat first, the Proteas on account of vital contributions by Quinton De Kock, R Hendricks, Aiden Markram and a cameo by David Miller posted a decent total of 163 runs. Chasing the target, the Sri Lanka team didn’t look as promising as they would’ve wanted. Dinesh Chandimal was the lone fighter for his side and kept the hopes alive with his unbeaten knock of 66 runs. Chamika Karunaratne played a firing of 22 runs but in the end, the target was too much for him to chase as they lost the match by 28 runs and conceded a lead of 0-1 in the series.
