Chelsea Team News:
Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has confirmed that midfielder N'Golo Kante (abductor), who picked up the injury during the home clash against Manchester United, and winger Christian Pulisic (abductor), and out for a long-term, both will miss the game against Bayern Munich.
In addition, Callum Hudson-Odoi, whose name was linked with Bayern Munich last season, is also on the sideline for this game and will not be involved as he recovers from an injury.
“(Christian) Pulisic is out, Hudson-Odoi is out, (N'Golo) Kante is out,” Lampard said.
“Callum's out, he's not far away but not this game.”
But there was good news for the Blues as Lampard confirmed that Pedro and Rubek Loftus-Cheek are both in the squad to face Bayern Munich.
“Pedro is back in contention having missed Saturday with a small problem,” said Lampard. “Ruben is fit, he's in the squad.”
Chelsea's likely formation!
Willy Caballero may keep Kep out of squad once again.
Lampard is likely to stick with the same formation that he used for the Spurs game.
Marcos Alonso and Reece James are expected to line-up out wide, with Azpilicueta, Rudiger and Christensen at the back.
Olivier Giroud's goal against Spurs should give up him a starting berth upfront, with Willian and Mount as wide men.
Chelsea key players:
Willian: Chelsea‘s best one-on-one player at the moment. He can do magic in the final third and his improved work ethic under Lampard makes him a vital cog in this team.
Mason Mount: One of the stars of Chelsea's young core. He is primed for a great career.
Reece James: Can play both as a winger and as a wing-back. He was one of the best Chelsea players on the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Olivier Giroud: He will be a threat to Bayern's shorthanded backline.
Bayern Munich team news:
Bayern remain without centre-back Niklas Sule who is recovering from a knee injury, while Ivan Perisic is out with an ankle problem.
Javi Martinez could be involved in this game in some capacity after he returned to the training this week following a torn muscle.
Bayern Munich key players:
Robert Lewandowski: Bayern‘s leading man. He is one of the best in the world and Europe. He is the only player with 40+ goals this season. The former Borussia Dortmund hit-man is also the leading player in the Champions League with 10 goals.
Serge Gnabry: His four goals in the Champions League came in a single game, in London, against Tottenham Hotspur. London calling again?
Thomas Muller: Just when it seemed Muller's Bayern Munich career was over, he revived his career and is now one of the first names on team sheet.
