DEN vs CHI MATCH PREVIEW:

The ghost of 2016 were coming back to haunt Denmark after they drew a home game against the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup qualification playoff.

Two years back, the Danes were in the same situation as they faced Sweden for a place in the Euro 2016, and ended up losing 4-3 on aggregate.

But this time there was no such repeat, and despite a 0-0 home draw and facing a considerable disadvantage heading into the 2nd leg, Christian Eriksen showed why he is hailed as the Luka Modric and Andres Iniesta of Tottenham Hotspur as his hat-trick helped Denmark beat Republic of Ireland 5-1 and booked a flight to Russia this summer.

But since then, this Scandinavian country has failed to impress in some of the matches they played. They lost two consecutive games against Sweden and lowly Jordan in November. But things finally fell into place in the last game as they beat Panama 1-0 and that is because Åge Hareide had the full strength team to choose from.

Chile, on the other hand, will be at home this summer. The winner of last two Copa America lost six of their last 10 games, winning only three and ended up finishing sixth in the South American qualification table, one place below Peru, which is the last playoff spot.

It’s the future that Reinaldo Rueda should be aiming for as the likes of Alexis Sanches, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Bravo all will be on the wrong side of age come the 2022 World Cup.

Chile won their last game against Sweden, who have already booked their place in the World Cup. It was a very good performance from the away side who dominated the game from the first minute, enjoyed the most of the possession and creating more chances than the host.

It was just the 2nd win in their last 10 games, while the away form is more dreadful for Sanchez and company. They have been beaten 7 times in their last 10 away matches, and now come against a Denmark team who have been hard to score against in their recent matches-

INDIA FANTASY PREDICTION:

Host Denmark have been more than impressive in their home games, winning nine of their last 13 games. So Chile are certainly up against a formidable side who will be looking for a big scalp ahead of the all-important World Cup preparations that will start in June.

Chile are struggling away from home, and that’s why we think Denmark may come out on top in this game.
