DEN vs ENG Dream11 Prediction: England travel to Copenhagen to take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League A Group 2. This is the second round of fixtures, with England winning their first game 1-0 against Iceland. Both teams were reduced to 10 men and it took a Raheem Sterling penalty in the 91st minute to get their win. England’s blushes were saved when Bjarnason missed a penalty in the 93rd minute that would’ve tied the game. England reached the semi-finals of last season’s Nations League but got knocked out by runners-up, Netherlands. This season they are currently 2nd in the table with 5 games to go in the group.
Denmark, on the other hand, lost 2-0 to Belgium thanks to a brilliant performance by Dries Mertens which sends them right to the bottom of the table. That is a poor start for a side that went unbeaten all through 2019. Kasper Hjulmand’s Denmark have to dust themselves off and gather confidence from Iceland’s stoic performance against the Three Lions who were unlucky to have a penalty ruled against them. Should Denmark defend as astutely as England did, we may have an upset on the cards. What makes this game even more interesting is that despite the win against Iceland, England and their fans know that the performance was dire and they need to win more convincingly.

DEN vs ENG Dream11 Prediction Team News, Injury Report, Starting Line-ups

Denmark Team News: There are no injury concerns for Kasper Hjulmand’s side and he will probably go for the same line-up as his team has some very good players and can cause a lot of problems to England. Mathias Jorgensen or Jannik Vestergaard may come in for Andreas Christensen but that seems unlikely.

Probable Line-up:

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)
Daniel Wass
Simon Kjaer
Andreas Christensen
Robert Skov
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Christian Eriksen
Thomas Delaney
Yussuf Poulsen
Kasper Dolberg
Martin Braithwaite

England Team News: The breaking news is that youngsters – Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden will miss out on the game after they breached quarantine protocol after the Iceland game and have been dropped from the squad. Gareth Southgate has the option of bringing on Jack Grealish or Mason Mount in place of Phil Foden. Unfortunately, England don’t have another attacking option to replace Greenwood on the bench. Kyle Walker received a red card in the previous game and Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to take his place. Gareth Southgate has some serious thinking to do and it will be interesting what team he comes up with.

Probable Line-up:

Jordan Pickford (GK)
Trent-Alexander Arnold
Joe Gomez
Eric Dier
Kieran Trippier
Declan Rice
James Ward-Prowse
Raheem Sterling
Jack Grealish
Jadon Sancho
Harry Kane

Who Will Win Today’s Match?

Bookmakers have offered odds that heavily favour an England win but it will not be that straightforward. Denmark have probably studied Iceland’s defence and now know that emulating those tactics should keep the England attack at bay. Higher up the pitch, they have talented players like Eriksen, Delaney, Poulsen and young Kasper Dolberg to cause problems in England’s defensive third. With some disciplined and clinical play, an upset quite possible. Unlike Iceland, Denmark will not let England see a lot of possession and they will want to dispossess them and break into counter-attacks as many times as possible. Eriksen pinging balls over the top could be a problem as well. Gareth Southgate has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism lately and he will need to up their playing style in order to start winning games and win the easier games with conviction. England fans believe they have an encore of the early 2000s’ Golden Generation and they are not wrong either as a fourth-place finish in the World Cup reaffirmed their faith. Players like Sancho, Sterling, Arnold and Rice can really make The Three Lions a force to be reckoned with in Europe for the next few years.

DEN vs ENG Dream11 Teams

Captain Options

Harry Kane – The main man, the captain, Harry Kane will lead the Englishmen and being one of the most experienced players in the squad, it will be his duty to make sure the team performs as one cohesive unit. Scoring 24 goals in the 2019/20 season, Kane is ruthless in front of goal and if not for an incorrect offside call, he would have been on the scoresheet against Iceland.

Christian Eriksen – Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen has some experience playing against Englishmen having spent many years in the Premier League. The English defence will have to watch out for his set-pieces and dead-ball plays. With 31 goals and 23 assists, it won’t be a surprise if Hjulmand turns to him to win Denmark the game.

Raheem Sterling – Despite being goal shy of late, Raheem Sterling remains to be one of England’s most prolific players. Even if he doesn’t turn up on the scoresheet, he will most likely provide an assist. After all, he does have 13 goals and 21 assists with the Three Lions on his shirt. The Manchester City man scored the penalty that won England the game. He also had an assist ruled out due to an offside call, which was incorrectly given.

X-Factors (Differential Picks)

Trent Alexander-Arnold – It was quite a surprise that Kyle Walker started over Arnold in the first game. But with Walker now suspended, Arnold walks back into the team. He provided 15 assists from the right-back position which mostly came from crosses. His crossing ability will come in handy with a finisher like Harry Kane in the box who thrives on such impeccable delivery.

Yussuf Poulsen – The forward did a good job for RB Leipzig after Timo Werner left the club for Chelsea. Despite not racking up a lot of goals, he had 13 assists in the previous season and has 11 assists for the Danish national team. He will have an interesting challenge coming up against Kieran Trippier who he played in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Jadon Sancho – The wunderkind, Jadon Sancho, couldn’t have had a better season, tallying 40 goals and assists which is spectacular for a 20-year-old. It’s no wonder he is estimated at €120 million by Borussia Dortmund. Robert Skov will have the duty of keeping him quiet but it won’t be an easy task. Even though the scoreline didn’t reflect it, Sancho was one of the better players for England, when they played Iceland and now, he will want to add some of those goals and assists to his international repertoire too.
