FRA vs CRO Dream11 Prediction: Croatia travel to France in what will be a replay of the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals. France got their hands on the grand prize of world football by beating the Croats 4-2 in the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow. Croatia, the dark horses, of European football had been producing some brilliant performances under the tutelage of Zlatko Dalic. However, their Nations League 2020/21 campaign could not have begun on a worse note after losing 4-1 to Portugal. They are currently last in their group and being pit against teams like France, Portugal and Sweden, making a comeback is a tough ask. Given their form, they’ll need to make some massive changes first. Having won only 6 of their last 12 fixtures, Dalic will have to pull off something special to qualify from the group. France, on the other, are unbeaten in 8 games and have won 7 of those matches. Didier Deschamps’ men were knocked out of the previous Nations League by the runners-up, Netherlands, in the group stages. They will want to add another trophy to their cabinet with their eyes firmly fixed on the Euros as well. If Croatia manage to somehow summon their former self, it will be a very interesting match-up for all neutrals.

Who Will Win Today’s Match?

Bwin has placed odds of 11/2 on Croatia winning and 11/20 on France winning which pretty much tells the story. France are a massive force in world football and even without the likes of Pogba and Aouar, can field a very strong line-up. The front three of Martial, Griezmann and Giroud can send shivers down the spine of any backline and Ben-Yedder coming off the bench can cause a lot of problems to a tired defence. France’s defence of Varane, Kimpembe and Upamecano with Digne and Dubois on the flanks is a highly experienced and youthful combination which is always dangerous to deal with. It will take something special to beat France but if there’s any team that knows how to fight the odds, it’s Croatia. They have good players in Perisic, Rebic, Brozovic, Kovacic and Pasalic. What they now need is a formula and a winning tactic. It’s unlikely that Dalic will come up with a winning tactic in two days but in the off chance that he does have a plan B ready, France will have to be weary. Croatia are known to be work-horses and will not shy away from outrunning the French, but as it stands, the gulf in quality between the two sides is too vast.

Captain Options

Olivier Giroud – Giroud has been a mainstay in the French side for years. Undeterred, the tall Chelsea man is always a threat in the box from set-pieces. He has scored 39 goals and provided 10 assists for the French national side and is always one of the under-appreciated players in all the sides he plays for. Playing alongside players like Martial and Griezmann will definitely accentuate his game.

Ivan Perisic – The team to beat Mbappe’s PSG in the Champions League was Ivan Perisic’s Bayern Munich. He was a key part of Bayern’s treble winning season and Croatia’s World Cup 2018 campaign. Zlatko Dalic will turn to Perisic to spearhead the Croat frontline. With 26 goals and 20 assists for the Kockasti, he is quite capable too.

Antoine Griezmann – The 29-year-old veteran will want to make things right after missing a penalty that would have sealed the game for France. Playing behind Martial and Giroud, there will be a lot of link-up play and France’s goals will come from that outlet. He has 30 goals and 23 assists for the Les Bleus and he wouldn’t want those numbers staying the same for much longer. A goal will do a lot for his confidence after a poor campaign with Barcelona.

X-Factors (Differential Picks)

Lucas Digne – The Everton and France left-back, Lucas Digne, has been loving life in Merseyside. He has become an integral part of their side and is breaking into the French team too. Despite playing in a defensive position, he creates an average of 1.8 chances per 90. He also whips in about 8 crosses a game and 9 progressive passes into the final third every game. Now that he is playing in a wing-back role, he will have a higher output.

Ante Rebic – Ante Rebic was the only bright spark in the Croatian side. He provided the assist for the lone goal scored by them. He has also had a very good 2019/20 season, scoring 15 goals for AC Milan. He was also a vital part of the Croatian side that reached the World Cup final in 2018.

Anthony Martial – The Manchester United player had his personal best season, scoring 23 goals and providing 12 assists despite suffering an injury. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same form for the national team but will be raring to change all that in the coming year.
