Two teams flirting with the relegation go against each other as RCD Mallorca host Espanyol in La Liga at Iberostar Stadium.
The 2018-19 campaign was seen as a momentous season for Espanyol after it brought them their best ever league position since 2004-05 season. After the 7th position, the next viable target was to break into the top-six or at least maintaining those levels must have been the minimum bar. But the team capitulated against the high aspirations, suffering defeats after defeats at the start of the season, easily crumbling down like windswept winter wheat.
They are already eight points behind the top-six teams, and more negative results would make the relegation battle a sore reality.
For RCD Mallorca, a team which made to the top tier of Spanish football after earning the promotion this summer, the target must be to pass the first season hurdle.
But Mallorca already knows that the top-level is a harsh reality, a battleground not made for the weak teams. They are already on a long and arduous journey towards survival.
The La Liga match will be played between RCD Mallorca and Espanyol at Iberostar Stadium, in Palma, Spain. The ground has a capacity of 23,142.
The game will start at 03:30 PM (IST), on Sunday, October 06.

RCD Mallorca Team News:
Juan Hernandez, Abdul Rahman Baba and Antonio Raillo all are expected to miss the game for the hosts through injuries.
Will Mallorca be making changes?
Mallorca head-coach Vicente Moreno is under pressure after a string of poor results brought the teams well and truly into the relegation mist. But the team he has been naming of late is the best and we expect him to stick with more or less the same playing 11 which lost 2-0 to Alaves last weekend.
That said, a few players are pushing for a start here. Left-back Lumor Agbenyenu lost his place to Fran Gámez on the last game and considering how the latter did last weekend, we may very well see another change here.
Daniel Rodríguez Vázquez is also in contention t start and could replace Aleix Febas in the playing 11.
RCD Mallorca Playing XI:
Reina (GK), Sastre, F. Gamez, Valjent, Raillo, Baba, S. Sevilla, Febas, D. Rodriguez, L. Junior, Budimir
Espanyol FC Team News:
Ander Iturraspe and Facundo Ferreyra both have been ruled out of this game due to injuries.
While center-back Fernando Calero will serve a suspension here following a red card in the last game.
Striker Jonathan Calleri picked up a knock last weekend and will be assessed before the game.
Espanyol Playing XI:
Diego Lopez (GK), Lluis Lopez, Corchia, David Lopez, Victor Sanchez, Marc Roca, Granero., Matias Vargas, Adria Pedrosa, Wu Lei, Campuzano
Likely to score:
Top fantasy picks:
Ante Budimir: Leading goal scorer for Mallorca this season.
Daniel Rodriguez: He is a threat, both in front of the goal as well as with his passing.
Adria Pedrosa: The 21-year-old has been deployed as a proper winger by the manager in the season so far.
Sergi Darder: Hasn’t played at the level he can so far in the season. But he is too good not to find his magic touch once again.
ESL vs MRC Dream11 potential winner:
Espanyol should at least get a draw here.
