31वें मिनट में जैकीचंद सिंह ने गोल मारकर स्कोर को बराबरी पर ला दिया. इसके ठीक आठ मिनट बाद डिफेंडर मोर्तदा फॉल ने 39वें मिनट में गोल दागकर गोवा को 2-1 की बढ़त दिला दी.
फिर, दूसरे हाफ में फेरान कोरोमिनास ने 51वें मिनट में गोल मारकर टीम को 3-1 की बढ़त दिला दी. 58वें मिनट में फॉल ने मैच का अपना दूसरा गोल दागा.

लिहाजा, टीम को 4-1 की बढ़त मिली. अंत में बची खुची जो कसर थी, वो ब्रेंडन फर्नांडेज ने 82वें मिनट में पूरा कर दिया. इस तरह मुंबई को अपने ही घर में 5-1 की शर्मनाक हार का सामना करना पड़ा.
